Srinagar Jan 15 (KNO) : Describing much awaited construction of Kapran Desa and Sadhana Top Tunnel (Karnah) as important projects benefitting people directly, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir urged upon both State and Centre Govt to take immediate effective measures for construction of these tunnels inorder to ensure safety and hassle-free movement of the people. A Delegation from Karnah Led by Senior Congress Leader Asgar Ali Khan today called on JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir appealing that a tunnel connecting Kupwara with Karnah Via Sadhna top must be constructed on priority basis inorder to ensure safety of people especially in winter months. The delegation also told the Congress President that people of Karnah remain cut off from rest of the valley in winter months besides they (people) suffer human losses due to snow avalanches on Sadhana top, besides they have been facing great difficulties on account of essentials, medical facilities and other necessities of the life. G.A. Mir while expressing serious concern over the difficulties confronting people on account of much awaited construction of some important Tunnels in the State said that Kapran Desa Tunnel which had the approval of Centre Govt has failed to invite attention of the State Govt, rather this Govt has deliberately halted the construction process of the tunnel merely on political lines. He further said that State Govt has even miserably failed to take effective measures for construction of Tunnel at Sadhna top which has cost dozens of lives, so far, due to avalanche, this is very unfortunate that despite loss of lives, Govt seems not concerned above the wellbeing and safety of the people, G.A. Mir said. Lashing out at both State and Centre Govt for failing to ensure equitable development of all the three regions of the State, G.A. Mir said the developmental scenario in the State has come to stands still. Many important projects started by UPA I and UPA II were stopped and funds allocated for these projects were diverted to some other places inorder to settle political scores with the common people, he added. He assured the delegations that Congress party would vigorously take up the matter with both State and Centre Govt laying emphasis for construction of these tunnel inorder to ensure hassle-free movement and safety of people. He advised the State Govt to stop playing with lives of people and taken effective measures for construction of Tunnel at Sadhna Top and Kapran Desa tunnel, which will not only ensure safety of people, but will also ensure developmental of these far off places.
